This
class is primarily a wheelthrowing class, however handbuilding is
explored later in the session during weeks five, six and seven and is
completely optional. Over the eight week session students will see
various instructor demonstrations and will spend time on the wheel
during their first class beginning to learn the basic fundaments steps
of wheelthrowing (centering, opening & raising walls). Once students
begin to execute and grasp a basic understanding of the
fundamentals, they will begin to create basic shapes like bowls, cups,
plates, vases and a variety of cylindrical shapes. Trimming is
cover in depth during week three and throughout the session along with
surface alteration and decoration. Week eight is dedicated to glazing
the work we created over the past seven weeks.
Students are allowed to make up any missed classes
on other nights of the week.
